Creating & Managing Tasks

How to create, assign, and update tasks.

Creating & Managing Tasks

This guide explains how to create tasks, fill in their details, add subtasks and comments, change status and priority, and use filters and shortcuts to work efficiently.

Creating a Task

  • Click Create Task in the tasks area, or press C (when the task list or board is focused).
  • A form or modal opens for you to enter the task details.

Task Fields

When creating or editing a task, you can set:

  • Title — Short, descriptive name for the task.
  • Description — Longer details, instructions, or context.
  • Status — Current workflow stage (e.g., Todo, In Progress, Done).
  • Priority — Urgent, High, Medium, or Low.
  • Store — Which store the task belongs to (if you have multiple stores).
  • Assignees — One or more team members assigned to the task.
  • Labels — Tags for categorization (e.g., Bug, Feature).
  • Due date — When the task should be completed.

Subtasks

Within a task, you can add subtasks as checklist items. Subtasks break the work into smaller steps and can be checked off as you progress. Open the task detail drawer to add, edit, or complete subtasks.

Comments

Add comments to a task for discussion, updates, or notes. Comments are visible to everyone with access to the task and help keep context in one place. Open the task detail drawer to add or view comments.

Changing Status

You can change a task's status in two ways:

  • Use the status dropdown in the task row or detail view.
  • Use keyboard shortcuts when a task is selected (shortcuts may vary based on your setup).

Keyboard Shortcuts

Common shortcuts in the task interface:

  • C — Create a new task.
  • D — Mark the selected task as done.
  • 1–4 — Set priority (e.g., 1 = Urgent, 2 = High, 3 = Medium, 4 = Low).
  • / — Focus the search field.
  • Arrow keys — Navigate between tasks.

Exact shortcut behavior may depend on your configuration.

Bulk Selection

Admins and Owners can select multiple tasks at once for bulk updates. After selecting tasks, you can change status, priority, assignees, or other fields in one operation. This is useful for large backlogs or when many tasks need the same update.

Filters

Filter tasks to focus on what matters:

  • By status — Show only Todo, In Progress, Done, etc.
  • By priority — Show Urgent, High, or other priorities.
  • By store — Limit tasks to a specific store.
  • By assignee — Show tasks assigned to you or others.

Filters work across list, board, and calendar views.
