Clocking In & Out

How to use the punch clock for attendance.

Clocking In & Out

Clocking in and out records your work hours in Arbeon. You use the punch clock to signal when you start work, take breaks, and finish your shift. This guide explains how to punch and what to expect.

Where to Punch

You can punch in two ways:

  • Punches page — Navigate to the Punches page from the main menu or time tracking section.
  • Quick Punch — Use the Quick Punch button in the top bar (or header) for fast access without leaving your current page.

Choose whichever is more convenient.

Selecting Your Store

If you're assigned to multiple stores, you must select the store before punching. The punch applies to that store's attendance records. If you only have one store, it may be selected automatically.

Punch Types

The punch clock supports four types:

  • Clock In — Start your shift. Use this when you arrive and begin work.
  • Clock Out — End your shift. Use this when you leave for the day.
  • Break Start — Begin a break. Use this when you step away (e.g., lunch).
  • Break End — End your break. Use this when you return from a break.

Your current state (Working, On Break, Not Clocked In) is determined by your most recent punch.

Current Time Display

The punch interface shows the current time in real time. This helps you confirm when your punch will be recorded. The punch timestamp uses the current time at the moment you submit.

Status Indicator

A status indicator shows your current punch state: Working, On Break, or Not Clocked In. Check this before punching to avoid duplicate punches (e.g., clocking in twice) or forgetting to punch.

Today's Activity History

Below the punch controls, you'll see Today's activity history — a list of your punches for the current day. Use this to verify your punches and see the sequence of Clock In, Break Start, Break End, and Clock Out events.

Geo-Fencing

If your organization has geo-fencing enabled, your location is validated when you punch. The system checks that you're within the store's defined area (or within an allowed radius). If you're outside that area, the punch may be blocked or flagged. Make sure you're at or near the store when punching if geo-fencing is in use.

Auto Clock-Out

Your admin may configure auto clock-out (e.g., at the end of a scheduled shift or after a certain time). If enabled, the system may automatically clock you out when conditions are met. Check with your admin for the exact rules, and always punch out manually when you leave to keep your records accurate.
